Learned how to make fancy stocking hats. A fun project for distorting punchcard patterns with the new machine. I've just been kind of knitting them and giving them to people. I figure it's pretty good advertising and a good motivation to keep knitting (so I don't get rusty!)

Just finished up some Stoll fabrics so I can make some cut and sew garments. It was so satisfying to get yardage off the machine. There are two different variations on the pattern (although these pictures are only from one of the samples) and a few different color ways- although I'm sort of enjoying the striping.

I've been super busy with work, but here are some digital print application sketches from my degree project!
It's a line inspired by performance, movement and dance costume. I created a cast of characters, based on classic character types within the popular theatrical cannon. Each character will have a representative "costume" or outfit. I've been thinking a lot about costumes versus uniforms. Through our choice of clothing, we are complicent in the first perceptions another person will have of us.

ah sweden
while searching ebay for a project for Waste Not Want Not (Providence, RI), I started to notice all of my "watched" lures were all from the same company- ABU Garcia (originally A U Urfabriken, later ABU Svangsta) founded in Sweden in 1921. The company orignally made more banal objects such as watches and taximeters, but turned to fishing supplies during WWII. Either way they are really beautiful, bizarre little objects- and since this was ebay, I obviously got excited and bought a bunch.

obesessed
Children of Vison, NZ boutique featuring the designs of bernhard willhelm, complex geometries, and c. neeon. Just when you thought you were bored of assymetrical stripes. By "you," I mean "I." Even more fantastic is the writing that grounds the collections. It always irks me when I say assymetrical stripes and someone responds "architecture." Something about the stream of consciousness writing besides their newest collections references something more ethereal.
My words do it no justice. Now to my latest monochromatic kick- Rozalb de Mura, from Romania.
The whole line is based on the cooling and solidification of magma, proving once again that if everyone starts with a core concept, and if you don't, it doesn't matter how great your garment is (final critique nightmare of '09, etc etc, may I relive it for years to come).
